Aluminum Cans & Foil
Preparation: Rinse. No food particles allowed.
Acceptable: Aluminum cans and foil, TV dinner trays, pie pans
Unacceptable: No steel. If unsure, test with (refrigerator) magnet which sticks to steel and not to aluminum.

Antifreeze
Preparation: Put in unbreakable container
Acceptable: Antifreeze only. Households only.
Unacceptable: No gasoline, solvents, oils. No business generated materials.
Fee: None

Appliances
Acceptable as scrap metal - no fee: stoves, water heaters, toasters and other small appliances without motors, washers, dryers, dishwashers-motors do not need to be removed.
Accepted for fee only - no exceptions: refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heat pumps, water coolers and other appliances with compressors/freon, whether or not freon has been removed.

Auto Batteries
Preparation: Leave intact, do not remove parts
Acceptable: Auto, motorcycle, Marine, Electric Auto, Gel Cell

Household Batteries
Preparation: Separate by type. Handle with care, acid will burn bare skin.
Acceptable: Nickel-cadmium, alkaline, mercury, lithium, lead acid car batteries.
Unacceptable: Alkaline batteries sold in Oregon after 1996. Throw these away as trash. Old Alkaline batteries sold before 1996, or those that may contain mercury, are acceptable in the collection program.

Cardboard & Brown Paper Bags
Preparation: Flatten all items
Acceptable: All corrugated cardboard (three-ply with visible wavy layer inside) and brown paper shopping bags.
Unacceptable: No waxed boxes, no cereal boxes, or other box board that does not have the three ply.
Fee: None

Glass Bottles and Jars
Preparation: Rinse, don't break, separate by color.
Acceptable: Brown, green, and clear. Labels are OK, put metal lids with tin cans.
Unacceptable: Pyrex dishes, drinking glasses, light bulbs, window or mirror glass.

Motor Oil and Oil Filters
Preparation: Pour motor oil into an unbreakable container with a tight lid. Empty your container into recycling drum. Place oil filters in oil filter drum.
Acceptable: Household, DIY only. Automotive motor oils only, including transmission and hydraulic fluids.
Unacceptable: No antifreeze, No brake fluid, solves, or gasoline. NO business generated materials (call 682-4120 for referral)

Recycling Centers: All Transfer Sites and Glenwood accept oil. Oil Filters are accepted at all transfer sites except McKenzie Bridge and Walton.

Paper - High Grade
Preparation: Remove non-paper items like pencils, samples, plastic tokens, etc.
Acceptable: White and Pastel colored paper, envelopes (white windows OK), file folders, NCR paper, post-it notes, fax paper, autocad paper.
Unacceptable: Blueprints, brightly colored, magazine and other low grade paper (phone books, box board, ream wrappers etc.)
Fee: None

Paper - Mixed Scrap or Low Grade Paper
Preparation: Remove non-paper items like pencils, samples, plastic tokens, etc.
Acceptable: Catalogs, construction paper, brightly colored paper, paper gift wrap, glossy brochures, magazines, junk mail, phone books, cereal boxes, shoe boxes and ream wrappers.
Unacceptable: blueprints and wax paper, any metallic/plastic coatings, NO cups, NO paper towels, NO napkins, plates or cups.

Paper - Newspaper
Preparation: Bundle or place in brown paper bags. At rural sites, recycle loose newspapers, then recycle brown paper bags with cardboard.
Acceptable: Just as it comes from the carrier, including all inserts. No plastic bag.
Unacceptable: Glossy inserts OK, but no magazines or junk mail.

Paper - Aseptic Containers
Preparation: Rinse and drip dry. Remove lids.
Acceptable: Paper milk cartons and juice boxes
Unacceptable: No straws

Plastics - Bottles, Tubs and Jugs
Preparation: Rinse containers, remove and discard lids. Separate milk jugs, no lids.
Acceptable: ONLY bottles, tubs (6oz or larger) and jar shapes. Separate milk jugs.
Unacceptable: Bottle, jug or tub shapes only. Other shapes cannot be accepted.

Plastics - Bags and Film
Preparation: Rinse, or turn inside out and shake vigorously.
Acceptable: All bags from grocery, retail or number with #2 or #4
Unacceptable: No ziplock bags, no cellophane or other wrappers, plastic bags. No food or dirt contamination.
Fee: None

Plastic - Media Mix
Preparation: Separate CDs/DVDs from cases; remove paper labels if possible.
Acceptable: Clear plastic Jewel cases only (not black), and CDs/DVDs.
Unacceptable: reel to reel media

Repairable or Reusable Items (Glenwood site only)
Preparation: Textiles (clothing or rags) must be clean. Household items must be boxed.
Acceptable: Items able to be repaired and used again including building materials.
Unacceptable: No clothing with mold or mildew, no torn upholstered items.
Fee: None
Recycling Centers: Glenwood Central Recycling Station.

Scrap Metal
Preparation: Remove non-metal materials.
Acceptable: All ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including stoves, ovens, water heaters, toasters. Anything with 75% metal, empty paint cans ok, motors ok
Unacceptable: No oil filters, propane tanks, car bodies or steel drums. No appliances designed to contain compressors/freon (see Appliances).
Fee: None

Tin (Steel) Cans
Preparation: Rinse to clean out food particles.
Acceptable: Painted on labels OK; completely empty aerosol cans OK.
Unacceptable: No chemical or paint cans.

Tires
Preparation: There is an additional fee if the rim is still in the tire. We suggest the rim be removed and recycled separately as scrap metal.
Acceptable: Passenger tires only.
Unacceptable: Tires larger than 22" rim diameter

Tires smaller than 17" rim diameter: $2 each, with wheel $3 each
Tires with rims 17" - 22": $6 each, with wheel: $10 each

Wood Waste
Preparation: Remove hardware larger than your thumb
Acceptable: Just about any solid wood. Dimensional lumber, plywood, pressboard, peg board, lathing, pallets, paneling and furniture (wood only, no hardware larger than screws and bolts, painted okay)
Unacceptable: No creosote treated (railroad ties). No foam core or any plastic, no formica, no hardware fittings larger than your thumb.

Yard Debris
Preparation: Keep separate from non-organic waste
Acceptable: Grass trimmings, bush prunings, leaves, and tree limbs
Unacceptable: No poison oak, dirt, rock, sod, or stumps
