Recycling Education for Schools and Groups 

 

Lane County Waste Management Division provides a wide range of  recycling education and outreach to the community.  Our Master Recycler Program has trained 495 volunteers to help spread the word and encourage waste reduction and recycling in all sorts of settings.

Lane County contracts with BRING Recycling to provide classroom education presentations, tours of the recycling center and Landfill,  fun recycling activities for kids and information for groups and events.  Contact BRING Recycling if you would like to take advantage of this free service to the Lane County Community. 541-746-3023

 

 Oregon Green Schools in Lane County.  

This state-wide association supports waste reduction and resource conservation in schools by providing technical assistance,  certification and publicity, to schools that are going 'green' as well as free attendance for teachers and students to the annual Green School Summit, a full day filled with fun and educational workshops and resources.

Lane County Waste Management and City of Eugene cooperate in a K-12 Green School Incentive Grant available to the first 10 schools that become entry level Oregon Green Schools or that move up to merit or Premier Level.

Saturday Kids Workshops at M.E.C.C.A.
Join us for some creative family time!

Each week features a different creative reuse project.

From magnetic puzzles to robot rockets to sock creatures, there's always a fun all-ages craft project for kids and families on Saturdrays

Saturdays, 11am-3pm 

All materieals are included for each workshop. We ask for a $3-5 sliding scale donation per child. Children under 10 should be accompanied by an adult.

No need to preregister, just drop in anytime between 11am and 3pm.

You can also come by during any open hours for uninstructed creative play time. Just browse our many arts and crafts reference books and then, for a donation, you can use the studio and materials on hand at MECCA to to create recycled arts and crafts. So if you're looking for something fun to do with the kids, come on over to MECCA!
